Welcome letter of ESPES President:

najmaldin Dear All,

Last year's meeting in Marseille was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and great success in every respect. We had, 169 high quality submitted abstracts, 87 presentations, Three excellent key note lectures by O.Reinburge-Lausanne, A.Razumovskiy-Moscow and M.Davenport-London, a fascinating minisymposia on thoracoscopic surgery; 236 participants from 27 European countries and beyond, and two well oversubscribed workshops.

This year, Bratislava promises to be even better. As always, all qualified and trainee surgeons who may have an interest in paediatric minimal invasive surgery and advances of technology, as well as allied specialists, scientists, technicians, nurses and industry are warmly welcomed.

The 1st day is dedicated to an Advanced Masterclass - SILS incorporating live operations and discussions involving an international panel of experts; and a parallel Basic Hands-on workshop. The scientific programme lasts two days covering all aspects of basic and advanced laparoscopy, thoracoscopy and urology laparoscopy as well as advances of science and technology. There will also be key note lectures, and minisymposia on relevant and interesting topics. ESPES Executive Committee shall continue to fund the annual prizes - best paper (500Eu)and idea (300Eu).

Although quality remains paramount, the scientific committee shall make every effort to include all levels and styles, but appropriate and proportionate, contributions from everywhere. The cost of both workshops and congress are kept to minimum so that the less privileged and trainees can benefit and contribute. In addition, we have "ESPES" grant to support those who might have difficulties with paying the registration fees (contact President).

I have no doubt that the 4th congress will be the most enjoyable event of your year - thanks to the local organisers, sponsors and ESPES organisers.

I look forward to seeing you all in Bratislava- 1st October 2014.

Azad Najmaldin
ESPES President

Welcome letter of Congress Chairman and Honorary Congress President

babalacingel Dear Colleagues and Friends.

We have the honour to invite you whole heartedly to the 4th Annual Congress of the European Society of Paediatric Endoscopic Surgeons, which will be held in Bratislava , 1 -3 October 2014. With respect and joy, we have accepted the challenge of holding the congress in Bratislava following the great successes we all witnessed in London, Naples and Marseille.

Bratislava, known as the 'Pearl of the Danube', was the coronation city of Hungarian kings in the 16th century. Hotel Carlton (Radisson Blu), where the congress will be held, is not just a luxury hotel for the inhabitants of Bratislava , it is a legend. It is here where Maria Theresa had her room arranged and Jules Verne took notes for his new novel in the evenings. Carlton Hotel tells its own story. Over the years, the hotel has had many famous visitors, including T. A. Edison, A. Nobel, S. Petofi, A. Einstein, F. Roosevelt or T. G. Masaryk.....and many more.

The precongress interactive workshop, will take place in the University Children's Hospital. In addition to free paper and poster presentations, the congress will include many exciting lectures and debates on current and future aspects of minimal invasive surgery and advances of technology. We promise you a pleasant social programme and an enjoyable stay in our beautiful country.

I wish to thank members of the organizing committee, the hospital's managers sponsors and ESPES for making our dream "hosting this great occasion" a reality I look forward to meeting you all in Bratislava in October 2014.
